Emergency Medical Services - EMS

184A7689

The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District EMS (Emergency Medical Services) program provides a very specialized service to the citizens and visitors of the Incline Village/Crystal Bay. All of our engines are regularly staffed with firefighter/paramedics, and all of our firefighters are at minimum state of Nevada Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. We have a total of 31 Paramedics spanning the ranks of our organization from Firefighter, Apparatus Engineer, Captain through Chief Officer. This allows us to provide advanced life support services at all times to our customers. We provide 3 staffed ambulances and 2 reserve ambulances to the community.

North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District was designated the first Heart Safe Community in the state by Nevada Project Heartbeat. All of our EMS response apparatus and vehicles are supplied with defibrillators. We also provide CPR classes and first aid classes in the community. NLTFPD is a certified American Heart Association Training Center with numerous training sites in Nevada and California.

In addition to rescuing the community from snow, water, and backcountry we are outfitted to provide access to emergency medical services working closely and training with Nevada State Parks, Washoe County Search and Rescue, REMSA Care Flight, USFS, and our neighboring fire departments.

In 1982 we began providing transportation of the sick and injured in the Incline Village/Crystal Bay area. We have continued to provide this service with a strong commitment to the community. Many of our ambulance transports are to the Incline Village Community Hospital, Tahoe Forest Hospital, Renown Regional Medical Center, and Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

We strive to have state of the art equipment. Zoll X series external defibrillators with 12 lead EKG, external cardiac pacing, noninvasive blood pressure, end tidal CO2 monitoring, and integrated temperature provides our customers the best in the industry. We utilize transport ventilators to better serve those in desperate need in ventilatory care. All EMS personnel receive extensive hours of EMS continuing education training.

NLTFPD is proud of its commitment to continuing EMS education and offers an annual Paramedic Refresher course each year.
