CERT

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

In 2023, North Tahoe Fire CERT and Incline Village/Crystal Bay CERT (sponsored by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office) merged as one CERT team certified in Placer County, CA, and Washoe County, NV. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month with dinner at 5:30 pm and training at 6:00 pm. Meetings are held in even months at the old Incline Fire Station (863 Tanager Street) and in odd months at Station 51 in Tahoe City (222 Fairway Drive).

North Tahoe’s CERT program is approximately 50 members strong, and we are always recruiting new members.  Members can participate in all of Washoe County’s free CERT training.
