Effective May 6, 2021, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District closed open public burning and stopped issuing permits for solid fuels such as pine needles and slash piles. Fuel-fired appliances are allowed by permit only.

The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District begins defensible space evaluations and curbside chipping for the 2021 season on May 10. Residents can submit requests online starting May 5 at www.nltfpd.net.
