The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District will lift seasonal outdoor burning restrictions on January 11, allowing open burning of pine needles, slash piles, and recreational fire pits by free permit. An inspection is required, and daily burn-day status must be checked before burning.

Weather permitting, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District will conduct pile burning the week of January 4 in the area north of Sweetwater Road and east of Fairview Boulevard, south of State Route 431. Smoke may affect the area for 48 to 72 hours.
