Improper disposal of fireplace and stove ashes is a leading cause of home fires in fall and winter. The District explains how to cool, store, and dispose of ashes safely, and offers free ash cans to qualifying residents.
PILE BURNING TO BEGIN WEEK OF NOVEMBER 1, 2021
The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District plans pile burning at locations around Incline Village, including near Diamond Peak Ski Resort and east of the former Ponderosa Ranch area, starting the week of November 1. Smoke will affect nearby areas for 48 to 72 hours.
FIRE RESTRICTIONS LIFTED & OPEN PUBLIC BURNING STARTS OCTOBER 27TH IN INCLINE VILLAGE & CRYSTAL BAY
Effective October 27, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District lifted fire restrictions in Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Solid-fuel and charcoal grilling resume, and free permits for open burning are available by scheduled inspection.

With winter weather approaching, the Fire District shares tips for preparing your home and vehicle, including testing alarms, keeping access clear of snow, servicing heating systems, and readying for power outages.
