North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District reviews boating and swimming safety for Lake Tahoe, where cold alpine water stays around 55 degrees and drives many of the water emergencies crews respond to.

Summer fire restrictions took effect June 1 in Incline Village and Crystal Bay, prohibiting solid fuel including charcoal and wood. During Red Flag Warnings, all outdoor open flame, including gas and pellet grills, is also banned.
