The Fire District shares lightning and thunderstorm safety guidance, noting that lightning-started fires peak in summer afternoons and evenings. It covers finding shelter and what to do if someone is struck.
CELEBRATE JULY 4TH SAFELY
With public fireworks displays canceled, the Fire District urges residents to skip consumer fireworks, which are illegal to possess or discharge anywhere in the Tahoe Basin. Fireworks can be turned in at any fire station without penalty.
NORTH LAKE TAHOE FIRE COVID-19 UPDATE
Following a June 24 state mandate, the Fire District kept its fire stations and fuels management buildings closed to public visitation, while the administration office and Incline training room reopened by appointment only.
FIRE AT ALPINE BOAT STORAGE
The Fire District responded early morning to a commercial structure fire at Alpine Boat Storage on Tahoe Blvd. in Incline Village. Crews knocked it down quickly, six boats and seven jet skis were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
