The Nevada Division of Forestry and the Forest Service plan to burn hand piles on the East Shore starting April 11, with ignitions around 10 a.m. Smoke will be present.
District crews trained this week with the Sustainable Workplace Alliance and Flyers Fuel Transport on responding to fuel tanker rollover incidents. Neighboring fire districts joined the hands-on session.
As storms continue into spring, the District reviews snow clearing safety: watch for falling roof snow, recognize signs of roof collapse, keep exits clear, and keep vents and chimneys open.
Sand is available at Washoe County Roads on Mt. Rose Highway, and sandbags are available at the main fire station on Tanager Street in Incline Village.
